there's plenty of big names for PS3 the passed few days in my opnion, games like Fracture, PES2009, Little Big Planet, Fifa09, Saints Row2, and Dead Space of course, these titles was meant to pass, for the reservation for even bigger names like Eternal Sonata, Guitar Hero World Tour, Rock Band2, and Fallout3.
more tease when i read how horrific and graphically violent it was for Dead Space over at GAX forum. science fiction was never my genre, maybe space horror isnt that bad, with link to the likes of movies like Alien and Event Horizon, i must have been lured again into the dark. i contemplated over at Bishan Junction8 for a good 30mins, finally paid on credit.
EA singapore did a good job to include a coupon for the DLC for the scorpion suit for your character. these was available only for pre-orders at US but we have it retail here for the R3 version. so will this be my first R3 game to keep? the cover print is PIS (printed in singapore) and the disc is MIJ (made in japan) btw, it sounded cool.
the violence isnt that bad frankie says, and the shock treatment isnt that high, graphically it's clean but not a fab, the third person view does remind me alittle the bad boring after-a-while dark sector, but what makes me love this game is the in-game pop up menu for your character engineer issac. when u approach a "action", the menu pops out in transparent for your button selection option, like unlock a door, or charge your stasis. and picking up shinny bright lights on the floor that again the pop-up menu shows u what item it is. stamping xbox-like cases on the floor, crashing them, reveals more interesting pick-ups. pressing the SELECT and manipulating the L2 and R2 buttons directs me to my inventory, my map, game objective and recordings.
combat is alittle nice, either using your weapon or my melee it with R1 by swinging it to the foes to break their limbs, or R2 to stamp/stomp at them, or use the stasis function to temporary freeze it and fuck it up. sometimes it generates a action sequence where u mash the "X" and execute a finishing blow, and this is a nice touch.
dead space is generally dark, a space horror, reminds me very much of system shock 2 somehow, which holds a nice place in my heart. then there's the bench i can upgrade my weapons and suit like a nice RPG. i stopped at 1230am, b4 finishing the first chapter, before getting to the shop, where i can change my suit to the obsisian suit, something i downloaded for the US PSN for free, and i left my PS3 on overnight to download the videos i had ignored previously ....
